Patient visited our dental office with inability to bite from his anterior teeth. Patient was also not happy with his smile and was not confident. On examination we found that the patient had a severe open bite along with the collapsed upper arch.
Following which upper & lower impressions where made & models were poured for model analysis. We noticed discolored upper central incisor. So we advised patient to undergo full mouth x-ray.
We found out that upper left central incisor was root canal treated & it looked like it was ankylosed.
So to confirm we decided to take a CBCT of the patient. Reports confirmed ankylosis of the concerned tooth.
Following discussion with the patient a multidisciplinary approach was planned for the patient with braces for the alignment of the teeth and exact ankylosed upper central incisor followed by bone grafting later to replace it with a dental implant or crown & bridge.
First we started off with self ligating braces so that there is less friction & better expansion with low continuous forces.
In between treatment we also extracted ankylosed tooth followed by grafting the area.
After around one and half years of braces treatment after achieving the initial alignment required we debonded upper & lower braces followed by a lower fixed retainer.
Patient opted for crown & bridge instead of implants for which we agreed, did his crown cutting, a digital scan, shade selection & delivered aesthetic zirconia bridge.
